Dear international First Years,
My name is Maxime and I’m a rising junior from Avignon, France. On behalf of Yale’s International Students’ Organization, welcome to Yale University!
In a few months, you will start a new chapter of your lives, one that I have no doubt will bring you joy, fun and excitement. As the date gets near, the idea of moving to another country may seem a bit daunting, but rest assured: OISS and ISO have your back! In the past few months, OISS has been putting together its annual Orientation for International Students, an amazing opportunity for you to start your Freshman year at its fullest. From helping you with opening a bank account to giving you a chance to get to know your international peers before the year starts, OIS will be there to make your first days at Yale stress-free, fun and memorable!
A couple of years after attending, OIS still is one of the best experiences I’ve had at Yale. The friends I made during the program are among the dearest friends I have today and I still feel a strong sense of belonging to Yale’s diverse and vibrant international community. To tell you the truth, I am sure that you will be asking for more when OIS ends! Luckily, Yale’s International Students Organization will be there for you to connect with your international family. ISO organizes events throughout the year for the international community to get together and share its cultural diversity with our American peers. As ISO’s President for next year, I look forward to seeing you at our events and I personally look forward to meeting you all!
In the meantime, I would like to wish you all a wonderful summer, and I encourage you to reach out to me with any questions you may have. If you want to chat about life as an international student at Yale – or about anything! – just find me on Facebook or send me an email.
Maxime Pradier, ISO President, 2017-2018
